Concern About SturdinessJun 07, 2010 Caveat: I did not purchase this product, but in looking at this model, I came across a possible problem.
I've been looking for a hand crank mill and ran across this very model at a store in their "clearance" area. Excited, I pulled out the grinder to discover that the shaft was cracked all the way through and the only thing holding it together was the sticky-back rubber strip (you can see it in the picture as a dark strip down the shaft).
It looked like someone had dropped it. While I cannot address quality of milling, I would hesitate to trust the integrity of the design or it's longevity because of the long shaft which may make it prone to breaking. But for the price and if you don't have to worry about children playing with it, it would be anyone's guess as to how sturdy it will remain.

Excellent manual grinderMay 18, 2010 I don't know about the other reviewers. I can get a cup of flour in a much shorter time that 10-15 minutes. ?? That being said it is a MANUAL grinder. I use my electric when I want a lot of flour. I basically got this one to crack grain for cereal, but then we found out my daughter has non-celiac gluten intolerance. This is great because I was able to take this apart and wash with soap and water and dry really well, so we are able to grind rice and other grains without it becoming contaminated with the wheat. I use my electric grinder to grind up my wheat and now this one for other flours. It is manual, so it is hard work if you are grinding up large amounts of anything. For that I recommend an electric model. But for small amounts or for a preparedness tool, this is a great grinder.
One last note: Although my flour from my electric grinder is a finer flour than I can get out of this grinder, this grinder still grinds flour fine enough for bread.

Very excellent addition to any fine food kitchen.Apr 08, 2010 I was quite well pleased with the Victorio Grain Mill. My wife and I had dined at Il Farro in New Port Beach, CA (the OC). Upon many attempts to find farro flour, we had only found the grain. Long story, short: we received the mill and within minutes, I started milling the very expensive farro grain into a fine flour that turned out the best fettuccine I'd made at home...and among the best I've tasted. Check me out at [...].

Not worth the $Mar 30, 2010 I had this mill. It is hard to use and will not grind the grain fine enough to make anything but cereal. The hopper is very small and does not hold very much grain, so you have to continually refill it. It also takes over 10 to 15 minutes to grind just 1 cup of flour and if you want it to be not so course have to keep putting the flour back through to try to get it finer. I would NOT reccomend this grinder to anyone, infact I took mine to the second hand store and gave it away.

Pretty goodJan 13, 2010 Bought this about a year ago for our backup supply. It seems to work quite well. The only bummer I had was that the piece that holds the foot that gets screwed down broke when I apparently tightened it too hard. Its not broken, broken, it just doesn't hold the foot on when the grinder is not attached to something. Anyway, the grinder grinds well. I mean it can take a lot of work to get the grind you want. For example, rice was VERY easy to grind but say, popcorn is quite difficult. Wheat berries go through it pretty easy and the meal is pretty fine. Good value, easy to clean, not to hard to use. Must be assembled to fit in box and to use.
