It's little light weight, but it's sturdy.
I used to have enameled colanders, which look very beautiful.
But if you try to drain pasta, the color fades away, which freaked me out.
I don't want any of those chemicals on my food.
But this granite stuff can withstand hot water and nothing came off.
I would buy this product again.

I love this average size granite ware colander. I've had a lot of pots and pans but the granite ware saucepans I've had and used for years and still love them. I'm sure I'll get the same good use out of this item. Granite ware lasts forever and is an easy clean up. I think people don't realize what a value this entire line really is.

This colander is lightweight, attractive and works well. My only word of caution is 9" turned out to be smaller than I was thinking. This size is perfect for draining one pound of pasta. If you want more capacity, look for something bigger.
