 making the bags workFeb 26, 2003
When you have problems with the bags puncturing or with liquids leaking, try using paper towels or wax paper to wrap the food items in. Wax paper seems to work best for the leaky liquid and paper towels seem to work best for food items that puncture the bags.

The 8-inch roll is the perfect size for me. I use these rolls almost exclusively. The bag material is very sturdy and stands up well to repeated use (like for cheese - leave 2-3 inches of extra material and reseal the food back in the same bag after you use just part of it). The rolls are vastly more economical and effective than pre-made bags. I seal virtually everything that goes into the freezer in this material, plus any "long keeping" items in the fridge, as well as dry-storage aromatic items, like star anise, dried peppers or other bulk spices. The grocery budget goes a lot further when I buy larger cuts of meat and then trim, portion and freeze them in meal-sized lots. It's a great product, and Amazon consistently has excellent prices on it!

We just started using the bags around Christmas time and havn't stopped since. We love the roll because we're able to customize the bags to the food. If you buy food in bulk like we do from Sam's or Costco the Food Saver roll is just what the doctor ordered.

The bag is good for some uses but I am trying to put jerky in the bag and it punctures holes in the bags..I need a heavier gage bag that will not puncture when I use them. I need to find a heavier gage bag can you answer this question for me.
