 Different than the packaged Bormioli Rocco Fido gasketMar 06, 2009

When I first commented about these gaskets being toxic because they were off-gassing fumes that overwhelmed me when I opened the packet, I received a very angry response back from this seller informing me that the gaskets were unbleached rubber and from bulk supplies.
The gaskets that I received have very strong fumes and are rough cut. The shape is close to the gaskets I bought from another retailer in a Bormioli Rocco Fido labeled 6 pack but the edges are rough, the "tongue" is not as long and the gasket is thicker. Before using these for food storage I would leave them out so that they off-gas all the fumes first.
Also, the company charges a lot for shipping ($6.50) such a small and low cost ($2.50) item. The gaskets arrived in a common envelop and was stamped for $2.19... no receipt and no instructions for returns.
Instead of asking me to politely reconsider my review, after the seller sent me an email me with information that was not included in the product description on Amazon, the seller was so angry that he told me that he would not refund my money when I returned the item and that I would have to file a claim for it through Amazon.
Here is his response:
"Thank for the negative... now I will not take them back - will not refund your money - they are original product - file a claim - I will respond appropriately .. you really are a horrible person... horrible. ... your parents must be so proud of someone like you!"
Since I have changed the information on my review now that I have the information I need to understand why the product is different than expected, the seller might consider a different approach.
Be aware that if you disagree with this seller you too might be caught in a battle to get your money back.

Let me just say right off the bat that I couldn't be more satisfied with how my transaction went. The product is perfect, too. I was a little concerned at first that this might not be the right gasket for my jars since I read a few reviews that stated these gaskets were a little on the small side.
So I ordered 2 of the 12-packs from Home Naturals Inc. for a total of 24 gaskets, but a mistake happened and I received 2 6-packs for a total of 12 gaskets. I contacted customer service at Home Naturals Inc. about the error and also expressed my concern about the smaller size. The gaskets were indeed both smaller in the diameters as well as the thickness and they fit on the jars more snugly than the OEMs.
After doing a lot of research, talking to the seller, as well as calling my mom (who lives in Europe where I purchased my original jars/gaskets), I learned that the new replacement gaskets are a little smaller than the originals the jars come with.
Still, I was a little in doubt and asked if it was possible to receive one of the larger gaskets, the 100mm size, to compare. Home Naturals Inc. agreed to send me a free sample of the larger gasket and also agreed to just refund half of my order since I had only received 12 instead of 24 gaskets. After I received the free sample, the larger 100mm gasket, it became clear that these (smaller) gaskets that I ordered were the right ones for my 1/2 and 3/4 liter Fido jars.
I was very pleased with how the transaction went. The customer service was excellent with immediate responses to my inquiries and a final resolution that was agreeable. I have used the gaskets and am pleased, and I would purchase again.
